N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Concordia Lutheran Church in Jamestown will continue a 27 year tradition this Thanksgiving.
The church has been host to the annual Thanksgiving meal, providing a meal for single people, parents, families, college students, those who don’t want to cook, can’t travel or have no family.
Volunteer Betty Mahlke says out of the 675 people that had a meal, 340 were delivered and 334 were had at the church. Mahlke says many volunteers begin preparations the Monday before Thanksgiving and do a majority of the cooking Wednesday.
The Daily Bread Program provides food for those in need, with several locations in the Jamestown area. Mahlke says the meal will be served from 11 AM to 1 PM on Thanksgiving day at Concordia Lutheran Church. She says that for those who cannot make it to the meal or service, they can contact the church for rides or for a meal to be delivered.
