N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The community of Jamestown now has their annual Christmas tree in place at the Jamestown Civic Center. All 50 feet of it.
Jamestown City Forester Sheri Steckler reports that this year’s spruce tree was donated by Myron Rutgers in Northeast Jamestown. Steckler reports that many individuals made the process go smoothly and without a hitch.
“Scherbenske Inc. donated their crane, truck/trailer and volunteered operators’ labor to pick the tree, transport and place at the Civic Center with the crane,” she stated. “The City of Jamestown Street Department used their bucket truck to tether the tree to the crane. Street crew employees cut the tree, assisted with loading and transport before finally directing placement and shimming into place on the promenade at the Civic Center.”
Both Scherbenske’s and the city of Jamestown Street Department have been working together to provide this unique service for years.
“They work very skillfully and swiftly with exceptional attention to detail and safety,” Steckler mentioned.
The Jamestown City Fire Department will be installing lights on the 50 foot tree soon. Lights will be put up in time for the Holiday Dazzle Parade, which is scheduled for Friday, November 24th.
“I would like to thank Myron for donating the tree as well as Scherbenske’s and our City Street and Fire Departments for all of their work on this project! I hope everyone enjoys the holiday novelty,” Steckler exclaimed.
