N.D. (NewsDakota.com) Senior McKayla Kurtz had twelve kills to help the Jamestown Blue Jays Volleyball team defeat the Demons of Bismarck High on Friday afternoon 3-1 (25-17, 25-27, 25-23, 25-21). Jamestown will advance to the West Region championship match on Saturday as well as advance to the State Class A Tourney in Fargo running Thursday through Saturday, November 16th-18th. The Blue Jays improve to 31-1-4 overall.
Jamestown controlled the first set, but the next three were back and forth. Senior Megan Gaffaney had a match high five aces, and added seven kills and three stuff blocks for Jamestown. Alyssa Ukestad added eight kills and two aces, Courtney Peterson had nine kills. For the Demons, they were led by Senior Lexus Mosbrucker with 10 kills.
Jamestown will play either Century or Legacy on Saturday at Mandan High School at approximately 4pm for the WDA championship. ESPN 1400 AM and newsdakota.com will have the match for you starting about 3:45pm.
