N.D. (NewsDakota.com)—-Anna Holen recorded 20 kills and a match high 6 aces to help lead Lamoure-LM (LLM) to a 3-1 (25-22, 25-13, 27-29, 25-17) victory over the Medina-Pingree-Buchanon (MPB) Thunder. The Loboes captured theirthird straight Region 3 volleyball title in the process and will have a chance to win their third straight class B title next week in Fargo. Jackie Meiklejohn added 36 assists in the match and was named co-senior athlete of the year along with Holen. Ellie Holen added 11 kills and 6 blocks. Kindra Hamlin led the Loboes with 18 digs. Taylor Sabinash had a match high 21 kills for the Thunder and Halle Uehran added 19 kills. Janaya Huff and Megan Moser had 23 digs each and Moser added 9 kills. Hannah Bohl had a match high 39 assists. The Thunder finished the season with a 35-4 overall record (3 of the 4 losses to LLM). LLM improved to 41-1 overall (only loss to MPB) and will play in next weeks state tournament in Fargo. Lamoure head coach Laurie Good was named the Region 3 coach of the year.

The Oakes Tornadoes defeated the Carrington Cardinals 3-2 (25-18, 18-25, 25-20, 20-25, 15-13) to capture the Region 3 third place trophy. Nicole Schmitz had a team high 12 kills and a match high 32 digs for the Tornadoes. Marisa Garza added 10 kills and a match high 6 blocks. Emily Cox had a match high 3 aces and added 25 digs. Claire Wagner added 29 digs and Sadie Hansen collected 41 assists. The Tornadoes finished the season with a 26-10 overall record. Carrington leading hitter was Kaedyn Mehring with 16 kills. McKayla McIntosh finished with 11 kills and tied Emerson Hoornaert with a team high 27 digs. Hoornaert also had 10 kills. Addison Hoornaert had a match high 44 assists. The Cardinals finished the season with a 27-11 overall record. Carrington and Oakes had played twice during the season and both previous matches also went 5 sets, both won by Carrington.
