JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – North Dakota can expect its first true taste of winter come Friday.

The National Weather Service is reporting that beginning Friday, much of North Dakota will experience accumulating snow. Meteorologist Ken Simosko reports that while they don’t have concrete totals, the snow should start sometime in the afternoon for the Jamestown region.

The system comes just in time for Winter Weather Awareness Week. Simosko says roads and grassy areas will be covered during this system. He says a warm front will follow on Saturday and some melting should occur to remove snow from the roadways.

Following the warm front, below average temperatures will set in.

The Weather Service will have solidified estimates as the system gets closer.
