N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Foster County has announced the hiring of two open positions.
It was announced that former Sheriff Ian Mattice was stepping down from the position after 3 years. The Foster County Commission began the hiring process and decided to hire Carrington Police Officer Justin Johnson.
Foster County Commissioner Becky Hagel reports that Johnson has patrolled the county in the past and believes he’ll do a fine job. She thanked Sheriff’s Office deputies Nick Oster and Ben Kothrade for their increased service during the hiring process. Hagel says Johnson has been in service for the Police Department for around six years and will take over the position in Mid-November.
Hagel says Sheriff-elect Johnson may have to hire on to fill a part-time position.
Hagel reports that the commission moved to hire a new Clerk of Court.
Hagel says their concern was finding someone who had the knowledge of their system. She says Beckly is expected to begin sometime in November.
