funeral service for Thelma J. Greb, 86, Valley City, ND will be 2:00 PM, Monday, October 23, 2017 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Valley City. Visitation will be Sunday from 3:00-5:00 PM at the Lerud-Schuldt-Mathias Funeral Home and will continue an hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. Burial will be in Memory Gardens, near Valley City. Thelma died at Mercy Hospital in Valley City on October 18, 2017.

Thelma Joyce Reitan was born on February 8, 1931 in Wild Rice, MN to Joel and Theoline (Albertson) Reitan. As a young girl, she moved with her family to Page, ND. She attended rural school near Lake Ashtabula in rural Barnes County. Thelma later moved to Valley City, ND. On April 20, 1950, she married Wayne Greb.

During her working years, she set pins at the bowling alley, was an usher at the movie theatre and worked at the hospital, although the job she cherished the most was being a mother, and later a grandmother. Babysitting her grandchildren was probably the most “full-time” job she had.

Thelma was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Valley City.

She is survived by her children, Douglas (Cheryl Maurer) Greb, Donna (John) Thompson, Greg (Rose) Greb, Evelyn (Mike) Villiers, Karen Greb, Peggy (Marvin) Rieth, and Wanda (Mark) Osland; 17 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; brothers, Alvin, Julius, and Tom Reitan; and a sister, Roseanna Torgeson.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Wayne; 2 brothers; and 2 sisters.
