JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown Community Foundation recently awarded a grant of $3,800 to a newly-chartered non-profit in the area called “A Moment of Freedom” therapeutic horse riding program.
The grant proceeds will assist the organization in purchasing the supplies needed to build an arena for the horses.
“The group will be working with individuals who have special needs, whether physical or emotional, as equine assisted services help not only with sensory issues and muscle control, but also with mental and spiritual balance as well,” the Jamestown Chamber of Commerce reports. “People with developmental disabilities, PTSD victims, and those suffering with depression can all benefit from therapeutic riding programs. This new organization is looking for volunteers to assist with fund-raising, coordinating events, working with the horses, or even helping with the program’s recipients as they learn to ride the horses.”
To volunteer, please contact Annie Keffeler at 701-320-3543 or e-mail to amomentoffreedom@outlook.com.
