N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – A man was injured after rolling a cement mixer into the James River in the Southeast part of Jamestown Friday morning.

Emergency officials were called to 913 18th Street SE Jamestown at approximately 11:46 AM after a driver attempting to back a cement mixer behind a home rolled into the Jamestown River after the riverbank gave way.

Jamestown Police Sgt. Sid Mann reported that the semi was still in the river as crews worked to find a way to remove it. He says the Jamestown Fire Department was on scene for hazmat control as cement leaked from the mixer.

The 22 year-old driver was brought up from the river bank where he was treated and transported to the JRMC. He was later taken by Sanford Air Ambulance to Fargo to repair injuries to one of his legs.

Removal will continue for the rest of Friday and is estimated to be completed by Saturday, October 7th.
