JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown Kiwanis club recently held their first ever Soup & Live Auction fundraiser to raise money for the their Kids Against Hunger event on September 18th.

According to the group, they were able to raise nearly $4,000. However, the club remains around $14,000 short of their goal. More than 80 attended the soup and live auction. This, added with the $11,000 the club currently has, puts them a step closer to their $25,000 goal.

“The Jamestown community refuses to let children go hungry. We appreciate its support,” said Janna Bergstedt, Kiwanis past-president and co-organizer of Kids Against Hunger.

Every year since 2011, Jamestown Kiwanis has hosted a Kids Against Hunger meal packaging day. In that time, the group has packed more than one million meals. All meals benefit families in North Dakota and Minnesota. The meals consist of four ingredients. Hundreds of volunteers help pack them. This year’s event is set for Saturday, Nov. 4 at Stutsman Harley-Davidson.
