DEVILS LAKE, N.D. (NewsDakota.com)- In their first meeting since 2010 Devils Lake scored a season high against Valley City winning 52-12. The Hi-Liners falls to 0-5 while The Firebirds move to 4-1.
Valley City converted their 1st 4th down of the season with a Luther Zeltinger 30 yard touchdown run on The Hi-Liner’s opening drive. Devils Lake responded on their first chance on offense, Joey Hornstein had a 25 yard score. Spencer Frith got the PAT to give The Firebirds a lead they’d never surrender.
Devils Lake put up 20 more points with 3 touchdowns from Cordell Yoder before Valley City scored again. Tate Sufficool connected with Sam Beierle from 46 yards out to give The Hi-Liners a 1st and goal. Zeltinger found the end zone from 5 yards out for his second score of the game.
Yoder finished with 4 touchdowns to lead Devils Lake. Zeltinger finished with 130 yards rushing. Sufficool was 3 of 11 passing with 64 yards.
Valley City is back home next week for their home coming game against Jamestown.
