MORRIS, MN (VCSUVikings.com)- Casey Julson placed second and the Viking men’s golf team won the Minnesota-Morris Cougar Invite for the fourth straight year on Thursday.

at Pomme de Terre Golf Club in Morris, Minn., the Vikings carded a team score of 306 to take home the team title again. VCSU edged MN-State Fergus Falls by six shots.

Julson led a balanced Viking team with a second-place finish, shooting 75. He was one of four Vikings who finished in the Top 3. Jared Lentz, Jeremie Pasitney and Cameron Rall all shot 77 to tie for third place.

It is the fourth straight year that the Viking men won the Cougar Invite.

Valley City State’s women placed second in a smaller women’s tournament. Nicole Heinitz finished in third overall after carding a 97 on Thursday. Jayden Romfo tied for fourth with a 103 total.

Up next: Valley City State will wrap up its fall season by competing at the first two days of the NSAA Conference Tournament next week. The first two rounds will be played at Bully Pulpit Golf Course in Medora, N.D. on Sept. 25 and 26. The final two rounds of the conference tournament will be played in the spring.
