N.D. (NewsDakota.com)——-The Carrington Cardinal’s defeated the Westhope-Newburg-Glenburn (WNG) Sioux 37-14 and improved to 3-0 on the season. The Cardinals scored on a pair of Drew Page touchdown runs in the first quarter and led 14-0 at halftime. Page’s first run was on a fake punt on the first drive of the game the Cards went 3 and out and converted the fourth and ten for a 60 yard TD run. Page finished the night with 129 rushing yards on just 13 carries and 3 TD’S. Kaden Wolsky led the Cards rushing attack with 18 carries and 141 yards and a TD. The Cards racked up 278 total yards on the ground on 43attempts (6.5 yards per carry). Hayden Schmitz complete d 3-9 passes for 95 yards and Payton Smith was 2-4 with an interception for 20 yards. Page hauled in 3 passes for 63 yards and Trey Rosenau had 2 catches for 52 yards. Kolton Vetter and Jayden Shipman hauled in a 2 point conversion catch as well.

WNG ran the ball 26 times for 58 yards and a pair of scores from starting quarterback Trent Marquardt. Marquardt gained 51 yards on 17 carries. Marquardt also completed 18-29 passes for 146 yards. Tate Wyman had 10 receptions for 108 yards.

WNG dropped to 2-1 overall and 1-1 in class A Region 2 and Carrington improved to 3-0 and 2-0 in class A Region 2. Carrington will travel to Bottineau next Friday night (Sept. 15th) for a 7:00 kickoff. The game will be aired on AM 1600 KDAK and newsdakota.com with pregame starting at 6:30.
