VALLEY CITY,N.D.(NewsDakota.com)- After surviving a marathon opening set Valley City earned their first conference win of the year defeating West Fargo 3-0 (34-32,25-20,25-22). The Hi-Liners, who improve to 4-3, travel to West Fargo Sheyenne Thursday while the 6-1 Packers host Shanley.
Neither team was able to get an upper hand in set 1.The largest lead was 15-12 in favor of Valley City. Leading 24-22 The Hi-Liners were unable to score the winning point, after that teams went back and forth. Finally with the score tied for the 22nd time 32-32 Lexi Ondracek went to the service line and recorded back to back service aces to win the set for Valley City.
In the 2nd set teams kept it close again, the match was decided on an unforced error by The Packers giving the set to The Hi-Liners 25-20. Valley City had to hold off a late push by West Fargo. They went up 20-14 for their biggest lead of the match when The Packers went on a run to trim it to 24-22. On the serve receive Reagan Ingstad set up Mackenzie Pederson for the kill and match point.
