City, N.D. –As the Sheyenne River rose above 12 feet two city parks and a golf course are again being threatened by high water for the second time this year in Valley City.
Park and Recreation director Tyler Jacobson says water is creeping up and causing problems in Chautauqua Park and City Park. He says crews are also working hard to keep water off the Bjornson Golf Course using pumps.
The high water level is caused by excessive run off from storms above Lake Ashtabula this summer. The corps was releasing 2760 cfs on Thursday morning.
Bald Hill Dam Resource manager Rich Schueneman says the corps is adjusting the pool level which has rising to an elevation of 1267 feet. The normal pool level is 1266 feet.
More heavy rain is in the forecast for Friday night into Saturday morning. A flash flood warning has been issued for southcentral and southeastern North Dakota.
