JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – 13 members of the Ringdahl EMS strike team have been deployed to San Antonio, Texas.

The team consists of 5 Advanced Life Support ambulances and 2 support vehicles from MN and ND ambulance locations.

PJ Hardy, ND Operations Director for Ringdahl EMS, said she received an update Tuesday from Bjorn Ringdahl, CEO of Ringdahl EMS. Mr. Ringdahl is currently in Texas and functioning as the Ringdahl EMS Strike Team Leader. He reported the teams have been assisting hundreds of local, state, and federal EMS units in evacuating hospitals, care facilities, and shelters along the affected coast.

The crews are dealing with difficult road access due to debris and flood waters but have been successful in all assigned missions. He also stated, “Our personnel are eager to work and the energy is high.”

Hardy noted that deploying these resources does not affect Ringdahl EMS’s ability to provide timely medical response in any of the communities we support.

Mr. Ringdahl stated, “The length of the activation is unknown and we plan to assist until the mission is complete.”

It is anticipated that the crews will be on a 7 to 14 day activation, but that can change as the situation evolves. Hardy stated, “Ringdahl EMS is prepared to send additional personnel if the need for assistance goes beyond 14 days.”

“Our involvement is a pure example of the heart and compassion extended to people in need by our EMS staff. We are happy to be here and proud to represent our home states of North Dakota and Minnesota,” stated Mr. Ringdahl.

Ringdahl EMS thanks the members of the communities they serve, as well as all of their employees for their continued support.

Hardy says they’ve had crews assist with Hurricane Matthew and Hurricane Sandy in the past.
