N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The City of Jamestown held several committee meetings Thursday evening at the Jamestown City Hall.
A special meeting was held to consider entering an agreement with Mark Goehner for the acquisition of Lot 1, Block 1, Marjo First Addition that will be used for future storm water storage.
Mayor Katie Andersen says instead, they will use $5,000 to purchase the lot from Goehner plus a five year tax deferment. The council approved.
During the Finance & Legal Committee portion of the meeting, a busking ordinance being enacted was brought forward. Mayor Andersen says they’ve been looking at the same ordinance that the city of Fargo has created. City Administrator Jeff Fuchs says one of the reasons this was brought forth was the new Jamestown Arts Park.
Councilman Ramone Gumke says the proposed fee for busking was to prevent someone from taking away from a possible event at the Arts Park or another area in the city.
The committee approved the city attorney to begin preparing an ordinance with a first reading to be held in October.
Later, the Fire & Police Committee discussed the demolition of a home that was destroyed by a fire. Fuchs stated that the city acquired a quick deed that gives them the land. He says once its demolished, the land could be sold to an adjoining property owner to be used as a yard or land to build a shed or garage.
The council approved the demolition of the destroyed home.
