JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewDakota.com) – The University of Jamestown football team will play their first game of the season Saturday afternoon at home taking on future conference opponent, Hastings College. The two played last year and the Broncos won a 44-34 decision.
Jamestown returns a handful of starters on both sides of the ball including their quarterback, entire offensive line and three of four in the secondary. Still the Jimmies have just four seniors listed as starters on their Week 1 depth chart.
Keldrick Sullivan, who lead the Jimmies in rushing in 2016 and scored 13 touchdowns, did not return for him junior year, but Jamestown should be set at running back. Freshman Allen Jevning and sophomore Jimmy Hatch should create a two-headed monster in the backfield.
“They are both complete backs in all three phases. We expect a 50/50 split on carries,” said coach Josh Kittell about his new backs.
Jamestown’s schedule includes 11 games with non-conference games still to come against #1 St. Francis (Ind.) and #17 Dakota Wesleyan the next two weeks.
