VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The city of Valley City approved a plan to finance the extension of the water main along Winter Show Drive.
City Administrator David Schelkoph said the project has been on the minds of city officials for years. He said the area will get a better water flow and more fire hydrants to increase fire protection. He said being Valley Realty is paying half the cost there will not be new assessments.
City Commissioner Duane Magnuson said this is something the city has to do.
City Commissioner Mike Bishop thanked Valley Realty for offering to pay half the cost of this fire protection project.
City Administrator David Schelkoph said the city will pay $275,000 for the project and Valley Realty will pay $300,000. He said the North Dakota Winter Show agreed to pay a special assessment of $25,000 to install five fire hydrants around their event center. He said bids for the project will be let later. The estimated total cost is $600,000.
The Valley City Commission approved of the funding options for the Winter Show Road fire protection loop project unanimously during their regular meeting on August 15th.
