CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – City County Health Director Theresa Will said Valley City is one of six North Dakota communities to received funding to help prevent opioid abuse.

She said the North Dakota Department of Human Services funding will be used to develop support and education to decrease or prevent opioid use. The grant provides $180,000 per year, up to 5 years. She said a portion of the grant can be used to hire an employee to lead this work in our community.

Will said the funds will be used to provide medication assisted treatment, increasing the understanding and use of naloxone, support and recovery services for those returning to our community after receiving treatment or coming out of jail and provide education regarding alternative pain therapies.
