N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Stutsman County 4-Hers had a strong showing at the recent North Dakota State Fair.

The following results are for Stutsman County 4-Hers only and include dairy, beef, swine, and rabbit results. All information is provided courtesy of Robin Barnes and the NDSU Extension Service Stutsman County.

Swine Results:

Stutsman county had 6 4-H entries in the swine show at the state fair.  Isabel Schmidt, Medina, and Brett and Brock Wendel, LaMoure – they all received blue ribbons on their entries.  In addition, Schmidt received the grand champion Duroc gilt and Brett received grand champion commercial gilt and grand champion intermediate showmanship which earned him a trip to the Round Robin Showmanship Championship. Alex, Eva and Zachary Lahlum of Marion showed swine at the state fair 4-H division and all placed a blue ribbon.  In addition, Zachary was grand in his weight group with his market barrow, and grand with his gilt in the other breeds class.

Beef Results:

There were 5 4-H exhibitors in the state 4-H beef show from Stutsman County.  Colby Bruner, Spiritwood; McKenzy Dockter, Medina; and Nate Kjellberg, Ypsilanti – all received blue ribbons; Seth Kjellberg, Ypsilanti received a red ribbon with his steer and a blue ribbon in showmanship; and LaMae Turk, Jamestown received one blue and one red ribbon with her two heifers, and a blue ribbon and 3rd place in showmanship.  Bruner received a reserve in his weight group of market steers, and was reserve champion in senior showmanship which earned him a trip to the Round Robin Showmanship Championship.

Dairy Results:

We had 2 4-Hers showing dairy at the state fair for Stutsman County.  Seth and Lance Kjellberg – they each won blue ribbons on their exhibits.  Seth was named the grand champion senior dairy showmanship and earned a trip to the Round Robin Showmanship Championship.

Rabbit Results:

Evyn Dick, Courtenay, with one of her 3 champion rabbits, and Lance Kjellberg, Ypsilanti, with his reserve championship banner in intermediate rabbit showmanship.  Kjellberg also won 2 grands and 1 reserve championship with his rabbits.
