L. Walch, 81, of Jamestown, ND, died Tuesday morning, August 1, 2017 at Jamestown Regional Medical Center.
Johnnie was born February 16, 1936, near Denhoff, North Dakota, the son of Lawrence and Lillie (Wagnitz) Walch. He graduated from Goodrich High School and was a self-taught mechanic beginning his career at the age of 14. Johnnie married Irene Case on August 12, 1956 in Goodrich. They have made their home in Jamestown since 1963 where Johnnie was a mechanic for the Chevrolet Auto Dealership, retiring in 1994.
Johnnie was an active member of First United Methodist Church and served on various boards. He also enjoyed being a member of the Jamestown Classic Car Club, Jamestown Square-Dancers Club and Jamestown Camping Club, the Woodcarvers Club, and the James River Genealogy Club.
Johnnie loved his family, especially his grandsons. He is survived by his wife, Irene Walch, Jamestown; two sons, Mark (Priscilla) Walch, Cloquet, MN and Kurt Walch, Jamestown, ND; daughter, Pennie Walch, Valley City, ND; two grandsons, Ryan (Danielle) Walch and Ross (Ashely) Walch; and sister, Linda (Wesley) Tausend, Bismarck, ND.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Dean; and sister, June.
Memorial Service: 2:00 p.m., Friday, August 4, 2017, at First United Methodist Church, Jamestown, with Pastor Elmo Herman officiating.
Family will receive guests from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, August 3, 2017 at Williams Funeral Home.
Interment: Highland Home Cemetery, Jamestown, ND.
