N.D. (KFGO) – A man was arrested after what turned out to be a nearly five hour standoff with Fargo police and SWAT at 1007 8th Avenue north.

Police responded to a domestic dispute report to an apartment at around 2:30 yesterday afternoon. Officer Jessica Schindeldecker says a police robot was used to try to establish communication with the man.

23-year old Tate Smith-Nerlien was wanted on a warrant.  He’s now facing charges of aggravated assault and terrorizing.

A woman who reported the domestic disturbance jumped out a window of the apartment and was taken to Essentia Health. Traffic on 10th street between 6th and 9th avenues was shutdown throughout the standoff. A fire department battalion chief says the department was first called to the scene on a report of a possible fire in the building.
