N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – A tour of local farms and irrigation tactics will be on display in the southeast region Wednesday, August 2nd.

The North Dakota Water Education Foundation is hosting the Southeaster North Dakota Irrigation tour, slated to begin in Jamestown that morning. Jerry Schaack is a member of the North Dakota Irrigation Association.

Schaak will be a guide to the tour, which will take participants further south to the Oakes area. This will include the Oakes Irrigation Research Site (OIRS). North Dakota Water Education Foundation Communications Coordinator Hannah Straw says they hold several tours like this statewide.

Schaak says this tour will be interesting because the way a lot of sites irrigate in southern North Dakota differ from other parts of the state.

He pointed out that questions like that will be answered during the tours. Cost for a ticket is $20 per person and includes transportation, informational materials, meals, refreshments and a one-year subscription to the North Dakota Water magazine.
