CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Area residents are invited to learn about the impacts that the 2017 legislature will have on our community during a forum on Thursday, July 27 at 7 p.m. at the Hi-Liner Activities Center in Valley City.

Co-event coordinator Sharon Buhr said community leaders and legislators have been invited to share what they believe these effects will be. She said we believe that the community will be interested in learning about what the legislature did in a variety of areas including spending cuts.

She said legislators like Senator Larry Robinson and Representatives Dwight Keifert and Daniel Johnston have been invited to share their views. Also asked to participate are representatives from the city and county, local health and human services agencies, educational planning and development, water control issues, senior care facilities and others.

Residents will have the opportunity to understand the issues and discuss them with legislators and others who have been affected by legislative action. The interactive plan for the forum calls for short summaries followed by audience questions.

The event will be moderated by Dr. Luis Da Vinha, professor of Political Science at Valley City State University. He talked about the forum with Steve Urness during our Voice of the Valley program.

The forum is sponsored by What in the World Is Going On? which is a campus-community group  of volunteers organized  several years ago for the purpose of addressing and discussing issues of local, national and international importance. The event is free and open to all.
