N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Donations of food, clothing and others fills the shelves of local organizations that benefit those in need. But, there is one thing that many of these organizations don’t have enough or any of; Diapers.

The concern came forward after South Central Homeless Coalition member Beth Dewald was approached with the issue.

Dewald brought this for the the coalition and member Cassie DuBray took the challenge and ran with it.

The drive returns this year with loftier goals and even more ways for individuals to help. The coalition has set aside 10 diapers and wipes donation locations within the 9 county service area.

McIntosh, LaMoure, Logan, Griggs, Dickey, Foster/Wells, and Barnes County all have a site at their Social Service offices. Edgewood Senior Living, Trinity Lutheran Church and Stutsman County Social Services are all donations sites as well.

Statistics show that low-income families may change a baby’s diaper once a day. Parents say on average, they change a baby’s diaper between 6 and 10 times a day. DuBray also reports that assistance programs like SNAP don’t cover the costs of diapers.

Individuals wanting to assist either monetarily or with diapers and wipes can do so by either donating at any site in the 9 county area, calling 701-252-2841 or visiting their Crowd Rise site.

The collections will continue through August 14th.
