N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The North Dakota Water Education Foundation is hosting the Southeastern North Dakota Irrigation tour on Wednesday, August 2. There are about 85,000 acres of irrigated land in a 7 county area in southeastern North Dakota.
The Southeastern North Dakota Irrigation tour will focus on irrigation activities in Oakes area, beginning with a tour and discussion of the Oakes Irrigation Research Site (OIRS).
The public is invited to attend the tour, which costs $20 per person, and includes transportation, informational materials, meals, refreshments and a one-year subscription to the North Dakota Water magazine.
In addition to the Irrigation tour, the Foundation is also hosting the Missouri River Expedition Tour on Aug. 16 (departing from Bismarck) and the Western Area Water Supply Tour on Aug. 30 (departing from Watford City).
Tour sponsors include: Ackerman-Estvold, AE2S, Garrison Diversion Conservancy District, HDR, Houston Engineering, Image Printing, North Dakota Game and Fish Department, North Dakota State Water Commission, North Dakota Water Resource Districts Association, Southwest Water Authority and Western Area Water Supply. Other contributors are Barr Engineering, Basin Electric, Devils Lake Basin Joint Water Resource Board and North Dakota Rural Water Systems Association.
