CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Brett Lloyd of Valley City will be donating a kidney to his sister Kristie Lloyd Urbach to help her live longer.

Back in September of 2009, tests revealed that her kidneys weren’t working at capacity. Doctors told her that she needs a transplant after the inflammation of her kidney’s reached stage IV Glomerulonephritis.

After her two older brothers were ruled out as donors, her youngest brother Brett Lloyd passed the match test and will be able to help his sister. Lloyd said he was a selfish person when he was younger. But now, he said he can have a positive impact on his sister’s life by giving one of his kidneys.

Lloyd said the surgery will be held July 27th at Sanford hospital in Fargo.

To help defray medical costs for these families a benefit with a supper, silent and live auction will be held Wednesday, July 19th at the Eagles Club in Lisbon from 4pm to 8pm. The live auction will be held at 7pm.

For those who can’t make it to the Kash For A Kidney benefit but would like to donate, checks can be made out to Benefit Fund-Kristie Urbach and dropped off at the Bremer Bank in Lisbon.
