CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com)- Post 60 Legion Baseball began their regular season ending 4 game homestand Thursday night against Kindred. They fell 10-0 in the region game and 12-9 in the non region contest. Friday night they hosted The Fargo Bombers losing 12-3 and 11-3. Their next game is Thursday against Casselton.
Thursday Results
Game 1: Kindred 10 Post 0 (Region)
A hot hitting team in Kindred came to town and took care of Post 60 in short work. Kindred would jump out early and keep adding on. They would score 1 in the first, 2 in the second, 3 in the third and 4 in the fourth while holding Post 60 off the board to grab a 10-0 lead. Neither team would score a run in the fifth, ending the game early by run rule with Kindred atop 10-0.
VC would get 3 hits in the game with Sam Jenson picking up 2 of them. Stephan Brooks took the loss on the hill for Post 60.
Game 2: Kindred 12 Post 60 9 (Non Region)
Post 60 changed fortunes early in the game as they had a 6-1 lead after the first inning, but that was short lived as in the top of 2nd Kindred would score 5 runs to tie the game up 6-6. VC would get 1 back in bottom of 2nd to take a 7-6 lead. That lead would hold till top of 4th till Kindred tied it. The next inning Kindred would add 4 runs to take control of the game. Post 60 would chip away but wouldn’t be able to get back and game finished in a 12-9 score with Kindred on top.
Post 60 would manage to collect 14 hits in the game. Devin Anderson, Dalton Ondracek, Josh Bitz and John Beutler would all pick up 2 hits in the game. Ondracek would take the loss for VC on the mound.
Friday Results
Game 1: Fargo Bomber 12 Post 3 (Region Game)
Post 60 got the early lead after the 2nd inning VC was up 1-0, but a 5 run top of the 3rd for the Bombers would put them up keeping them in control from there. Bombers would add 2 more in in the 5th, 3 in the 6th and 2 more in the 7th. Post 60 would get 1 more in the 3rd and another run in the 6th to put it at the final score of 12-3.
Nate Rodriguez got the loss for VC on the mound. He would go 5 innings giving up 10 runs (6 earned) on 8 hits while walking 1 and striking out 10. At the plate VC would collect 8 hits, lead by Drew Oberlander would had 2 of those hits.
Game 2: Fargo Bombers 11 Post 60 3 (Non Region)
Once again Post 60 would grab the early lead only to see the Bombers put a big number on the board in the next inning. VC would get 1 run in the bottom of the first to take an early 1-0 lead, only to see Fargo get 6 runs in the top of the second to take control of the game. At the plate VC would once again collect 8 hits lead by Sam Jenson and Dalton Ondracek who each picked up 3. On the mound Rylee Bjork would get the loss for VC.
