(NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown College men’s basketball team had its season come to a close in heartbreaking fashion Thursday during the first round of the NAIA National Tournament in Point Lookout, Missouri.

Saint Francis’ Spencer Comer made two free throws with 3 seconds left, securing a 64-63 victory over the Jimmies.

The Jimmies stormed back from a 12-point deficit in the final three minutes to take a 63-62 lead on Byron Jones’ basket with 3 seconds left. But Jamestown’s Davon Thomas ran threw a screen on the ensuing inbounds play, fouling Comer and sending him to the line for two shots, which he made to put Saint Francis ahead.

Jones’ long shot at the buzzer was off the mark, signaling an end to Jamestown’s season. The Jimmies end the season with a 25-7 record.

Jamestown shot 40 percent in the loss (23-57) and left points at the free throw line, making just 12 of 21 free throw attempts. They trailed 60-48 with 3:11 remaining before storming back behind Jones, who scored Jamestown’s final 13 points of the game. Jones finished with 16 points after starting the game 0-for-9 from the field.

Mark Hoge led Jamestown with 17 points. Both Hoge and center Travis Burley fouled out in the final minutes.

Scott Kohne led Saint Francis (Ind.) with 18 points. Q Owens added 16 points. Saint Francis has played in the national championship game each of the past two seasons, winning the title in 2010.
