CITY, IA (NewsDakota.com)–The Viking women start their second run at the NAIA Division II Womens Basketball national tournament this afternoon, meeting #3 College of the Ozarks, MO in Sioux City.
Valley City State advanced to their second ever national tournament appearance with a runner-up finish at the Association of Independent Institutions (AII) tournament two weekends ago in Madison, SD. They are 19-14 this season.
The Lady Bobcats of Ozarks are the tournament’s third-overall seed, one of four number-one seeds in four eight-team brackets. The Vikings are an eight-seed.
College of the Ozarks has won 20 straight games, and is 29-3 overall. They captured the Midlands Collegiate Athletic Conference (MCAC) title with a 69-58 win over Saint Mary, NE for an automatic bid into the tournament. They are making their 11th straight national tournament appearance.
