CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Valley City has a new City Attorney and Human Resources Director wrapped into one position.

The city Municipal Court prosecutor and Assistant Barnes County State’s Attorney Lilie Schoenack accepted both positions.

Valley City Administrator David Schelkoph said it’s the first time the city has hired an attorney. Previously, the city contracted to a local law firm to represent the city. He said her annual salary for the combined position will be $85,000 plus benefits.

Lilie Schoenack said her previous job experience was HR related before she became a licensed attorney. That encouraged her to apply for the position.

Following the retirement of Russell Myhre earlier this year, the Fremstad Law firm led by Joel Fremstad has been the acting city attorney for Valley City.

On August 1st Lilie Schoenack with be the new city attorney and HR director for the city of Valley City.
