N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown High School will present their production of “Into the Woods” on June 29th and 30th at the Jamestown High School Auditorium.
Originally on Broadway in 1987, the classic Stephen Sondheim musical has been performed numerous times by different schools and colleges around the world for the past 30 years. Co-director Mike McIntyre is co-directing the show this year with his wife Cheryl.
The show focuses on classic fairytales such as Cinderella and Rapunzel. The stories that unfold have each character’s story intertwine in some way. Jamestown High School student Nick Mortenson will fulfill the role of the Baker in this year’s production.
His story later intertwines with that of Cinderella, who will be reprised by Sophomore Samara McDermid. She pointed out that the music was some of the more challenging parts of the show.
McIntyre says the cast and crew have been working hard, having had only about a month to put together the show.
The cast of roughly 40 students will put on the show at 7:00 PM both nights at the Jamestown High School. Tickets are not sold in advance and are only available at the door. The cost will be $7 for admission and $5 for students.
