N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Jamestown Police Chief Scott Edinger addressed the Police & Fire Committee Thursday evening to talk about their policy manual and recreational vehicles on streets.
Chief Edinger gave an update on the Lexipol Policy Manual, a working manual written by legal and public safety professionals that monitor major court decisions, legislations and margining trends.
Edinger pointed out that all officers in the department would receive the manual and the service would provide constant updates in laws and protocol.
Edinger says a group of lawyers are constantly updating the manual, keeping the police department informed on the newest legislation and laws passed by state and federal legislature.
Later in the meeting, Councilman Dan Buchanan brought up an issue he had brought forth earlier with recreational vehicles parking on the wrong side of the street.
Chief Edinger stated that his department doesn’t typically make stops for those items because they’re not against any city ordinances. When asked if the council should look into the ordinance or make a change, Edinger said the council should look at requiring reflective tape on those vehicles
The council will look into the ordinance in July.
