(NewsDakota.com) It’s been a growing trend that two Class B District 6 girls basketball teams will be playing for the Region III title, and so it will occur again this season. The Napoleon Imperials and the Linton-HMB Lions will play for the right to go to the State Class B Girls Basketball tournament in Bismarck next week in Thursday night’s Region III tournament after winning their semi-final matchups on Tuesday night.

Napoleon 63 Pingree-Buchanan/Kensel 60

In game one, the District 5 champs had the early advantage taking a 21-19 lead after the first eight minutes. However, Napoleon responded with a 20-8 run in the second to take the halftime lead. In the third, PBK outscored Napoleon 18-8, but in the end, the Imperials held on for a three point victory.

Napoleon was lead by Sheridan Dewald’s 31 points, PBK was lead in scoring by Kelly Carlson’s 17 points.

Linton-HMB 50 South Border 35

In the second game, the Mustangs did not score as many points as the Lions did in the first quarter until the third quarter. Linton-HMB only lost the fourth quarter of the game, being slighly outscored 10-8.

Linton-HMB’s high point total came from Kaylin Schneider with 17, South Border had 13 from Karly Wald.

The third place game and championship game will be played Thursday night. Third place game is set for 6 p.m. with PBK tangling with South Border, and the championship game will see Napoleon try to defend their home turf and move on to the state tournament by going up against Linton-HMB.
