(NewsDakota.com) In arguably one of the longest doubleheaders in the history of North Dakota Class B American Legion baseball, the Oakes and Hankinson-Fairmount-Lidgerwood Legion teams each picked up a victory Wednesday night.
Post 36 Oakes was victorious in a two-hour six inning game by the score of 14-2. Michael Kelly earned the win for Oakes, going all six and striking out 13.
The second game went eight innings, and lasted just over three hours and 40 minutes. In the end, H-F-L held off Post 36 17-16. Oakes was able to tie the game in the bottom of the seventh with a two out rally, but stranded the winning run at third. In the eighth, H-F-L pushed a run across, and Oakes stranded what would be a tying run at third.
