CITY (NewsDakota.com)–The Region I girls basketball tournament starts today in Lisbon.
Maple Valley, the fourth-place team from District 2, will face District 1 champ Milnor in the opening game of the day. The Raiders defeated Milnor by 20 points earlier this season.
The Kindred Vikings, runners-up from District 2, will face Lisbon, the third-place qualifier from District 1 in the second game.
In the night session, Central Cass, the District 2 champ, will take on Hankinson, who is 4-17, but upset Oakes to qualify for the tournament. That will be followed by North Sargent, the runners-up from District 2, facing Northern Cass.
The tournament continues Tuesday and Thursday. KQDJ-FM Q101 will have coverage of Maple Valley, Central Cass, and Northern Cass throughout the tournament.
