CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) The North Dakota National Guard along with state and local leaders dedicated a new million vehicle maintenance facility in Valley City on June 1st.
The Valley City based 231st Brigade Support Battalion’s new facility provides maintenance support for its combat and tactical vehicles.
Several dignitaries including North Dakota Senator John Hoeven, Lt. Governor Brent Sanford, Adjutant General Alan Dohrmann and Valley City Mayor Dave Carlsrud spoke during the ceremony as Director of Facilities Engineering Col. Clark Johnson gave the introductions. Sgt. First Class Scott Anderson is the Maintenance Shop Supervisor. He said the new shop will service some 360 vehicles for the National Guard.
Construction of the shop began in June 2015 and was completed earlier this year. The old shop had 32-hundred square feet of floor space. The new building has more than 45,000 square feet.
North Dakota National Guard Adjutant General Alan Dohrmann said this new facility will continue to support the maintenance requirements for our units in Valley City, as well as, Jamestown, Lisbon, Edgeley and Wishek.
