N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The 25th Anniversary of Stamp Out Hunger had excellent participation from the Jamestown area.
During the days event, residents were encouraged to leave out a bag of non-perishable food by their mailbox that would be picked up from their local mail carrier. According to President of the National Association of Letter Carriers Fredric Rolando, more than 80 million pounds of food were collected in 2016. This food was then brought to local food banks and organizations.
According to the Jamestown letter carriers, 2,600 pounds of food were collected from the region. All food collected was then donated to the Jamestown Salvation Army. The food collection was held on May 13th.
