N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – No one was injured after a semi was unable to stop at an intersection and caused an accident.
The Highway Patrol reports that Justin Volk, 31, of Fessenden, was traveling southbound on County Road 4 when he was unable to stop at a stop sign on the intersection of County Road 5. Volk’s semi continued through the intersection when William Ongstad, 66, of Harvey saw the semi approaching at a rapid speed.
Ongstad braked to the point of lockup, striking the axles of the semi. Ongstad was wearing his seatbelt and claimed to be uninjured as a result of the crash, yet his vehicle was severely damaged.
Following inspection, Volk’s semi and trailer were found to have numerous out of service violations including faulty brake lines. Charges are pending.
