CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Valley City Beautification Committee volunteers recently planted 36 native Burr Oak trees along the banks of the Sheyenne River in Valley City.
Member Robert Falk said these plantings will enhance the beauty of the new permanent flood protection walls and levee system between Viking Drive and 4th Street West City Park Bridge.
He said the trees were donated by Richard Monson who spent several years growing and tending the saplings prior to their being transplanted earlier this year.
Falk said the Valley City Beautification Committee is a group of dedicated and hardworking local volunteers who spend numerous hours enhancing the beauty of our community.
He said the committee is always looking for additional volunteers to help out with the seasonal planting, pruning, weeding, mulching, watering etc. requirements of our many established public green spaces.
