(NewsDakota.com) Without question, the Kindred/Richland baseball team will be the heavy favorites when the Class B Region I Tournament starts Friday in LaMoure.

On Monday in their home finale, the Vikings limited Oakes to just a single hit and a pair of walks as they rolled 12-0 in four and a half innings against the visiting Tornadoes.

The Vikings (11-0 Class B Region I) batted around in the first three innings, scoring nine runs on eight hits. Oakes’ Zander Bauer managed the lone Tornado hit, while Lucas Lautt was the losing pitcher; going a inning and two-thirds, allowing five earned runs on seven hits.

Brandon Roesler earned the win, going three innings of no-hit ball, while striking out six, to bring his record to 6-0 and 62 strikeouts this season.

Kindred will try for a perfect regular season Tuesday afternoon in Fargo against winless Fargo Oak Grove Lutheran, while Oakes (4-8), as the number five seed, prepares for the Region I Tournament Friday. They will play the number four seed, which is still to be determined.

Oakes games throughout the tournament can be heard on KDDR-AM 1220/95.9 FM and NewsDakota.com
