N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown Regional Medical Center has named Registered Nurse Kacie Pahl as their 2017 Nora Melvold Paulson Excellence in Leadership Award winner.
JRMC celebrates nursing week with the award, honoring one registered nurse every year. Pahl serves in the Family BirthPlace unit and has worked for the hospital since 2012. She and her children, Raina and Cameron, live in Jamestown. The Edgeley native holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from the University of Jamestown and a Master’s Degree in Nursing Education. She is also a volunteer for the North Dakota National Guard.
“National Nurses Week is a celebration of nurses; they are the heart of healthcare,” said Trisha Jungles, Chief Nursing Officer. “JRMC’s nurses selected Kacie because she’s positive, compassionate and sets an example for us all.”
The award was created by Brian and Nancy Spector in honor of Brian’s grandmother, Nora Paulson. Paulson worked as an RN at the Jamestown Hospital for more than 20 years and is remembered for her service excellence and clinical care and nursing education.
“Kacie is great with patients and always a patient advocate,” said Family BirthPlace Manager Emily Woodley. “Kacie is able to deal with even the most difficult of patients with a smile on her face. Her team is always pleased to see that they will be working with Kacie because they know she never complains.”
The Nora Paulson Award is voted on by his or her peers. The award provides an annual grant to a JRMC RN who consistently embodies a commitment to excellence in nursing education and clinical care. A plaque with all names of each recipient can be found in the lower level near the JRMC education center.
