N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Jamestown Police spent Friday morning on May 5th seeking a man who was last seen floating in the James River.

Lt. Opp reported that a call at 12:30 AM Friday morning identified a male floating on a flotation device in the river near Nickeus Park. Police began searching for the man to make sure he was okay.

The search was halted at noon according to Jamestown Fire Chief Jim Reuther. Crews used rafts to search the area from Nickeus Park to Ernie Gates Field. No body was found and the search was stopped.

Crews spent their times searching the riverbanks, dam and bridges but were unable to find the man, who did not appear to be in distress when the call was received.
