Coach’s Comments

We had a lot of tennis this week – but it will be about the same as the next four weeks!  Next week is Monday Tuesday, Friday Saturday, followed by Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, then regionals, then state.  Wow!

We had to play in the heat and the wind today.  Our players were able to cope and then use the wind to their advantage in singles and doubles.  This experience will help us in the future when weather plays a factor again.

After a rough doubles match yesterday, Breanna and Angela came out and took care of business dropping only two games in two sets.  Great job to start and finish strong!

Kayla Triebold won her first varsity match of her career today.  She was a strong and confident tennis player throughout.  Her demeanor on the court was 100% improved over a day ago and it showed in her consistency.

Reagan and Cali were also strong from start to finish today.  With a little adversity in the doubles, they didn’t get rattled and continued to play their game.  Way to take care of your side of the court and to find the way to stay on top.

Hannah and Kallie played well again.  Kallie cut the balls off going towards the net.  Hannah’s placement of volleys made pure winners.

The biggest victory of the day was the impression our fine young women left on the Wahpeton coach.  Coach Lunsetter was highly impressed with our sportsmanship, our attitudes, our respectfulness, and our spectators.  We have a fantastic group of young women that of are high character.  Thank you, team, for representing Valley City in such a positive way.  I’m proud of you all from #1 to #37!!
