funeral mass for Judith “Judy” Winkler will be celebrated at 2:30 PM on Monday, May 8, 2017 at St. Catherine Catholic Church, Valley City, ND.  Visitation will be held in the church from 5-7 PM, Sunday evening, with a prayer service beginning at 7:00.  Burial will be in St. Catherine Cemetery, Valley City.  Judy died at the Sheyenne Care Center in Valley City on May 3, 2017 at the age of 97.

Judith Anderson was born to Andrew Antonius and Olufine Halvorda (Braso) Anderson on May 22, 1919.  She was born in Larson, ND in Harmonious Township of Burke County.  Her elementary school years were spent at a rural school, Larson, before going on to attend Columbus High School.

Following her schooling, she worked as a nanny for a dentist and an undertaker in Minot, ND as well as working on various farms in the Minot area.

On October 31, 1940, Judy married Archie Winkler in the St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Oriska, ND.  They farmed in Cuba Township of Barnes County, ND until retiring and moving to Valley City in 1988.

Judy was a member of St. Catherine Catholic Church.

She is survived by her son and his wife, Arvid & Margaret Winkler; her daughter, Connie Winkler; along with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Preceding her in death are her parents; husband; son, Paul; sister, Agnes; and twin sister, Florence.
