(NewsDakota.com) After starting the Class B Region I season 3-2, the Oakes High School baseball team has now lost their last five games; the latest coming Thursday night with a 5-1 home loss to Central Cass.
The Tornadoes (3-7 Class B Region I) managed to score the first run of the game in the second inning via some clever base running by Mark McFarland. The Squirrels (4-3) found their rhythm in the fourth inning; with three doubles that lead to three runs being scored. Oakes managed only two hits; Mike McKenna in the first and Tyler Voightman in the fifth.
Andrew Jahnke eared his first win of the season in a regional start, going six innings, with one unearned run with five strikeouts. Taylor Schall took the loss for Oakes, falling to 0-3 in Region I starts this season. He went all seven innings, allowing three earned runs on seven hits with six strikeouts.
