(NewsDakota.com) – The winter storm impacting Stutsman County on Wednesday has been downgraded from a blizzard warning to a winter storm warning.

The winter storm warning remains in effect until 6 p.m. Wednesday.

Many area schools had canceled classes Wednesday by 8 a.m., and the rest were running two hours late. Jamestown Schools are running school and buses two hours late, but are not running rural buses due to conditions outside of the city.

The snow and winds are expected to taper off Wednesday afternoon, according to the National Weather Service. Snowfall totals could range from 5 to 10 inches in the region.

A No Travel Advisory by the city of Jamestown remains in effect until noon Wednesday.

The Jamestown Regional Airport is “back on line” says airport manager Matthew Leitner. He says they are expecting the noon flight to arrive into Jamestown as scheduled Wednesday. Tuesday night’s arriving flight and Wednesday morning’s departure flight to Minneapolis were both canceled because of the winter storm.
