N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The WDA softball conference is going to be as competitive as it has ever been and the two games between Jamestown and Minot proved that again. The Magi improved to 3-1 on the year by winning both games, but it wasn’t without a big challenge from the Jays.

Minot won the first game 4-2 and the second game 11-5. Jamestown lead 2-0 in game one, but missed a few opportunities to add to the lead. In the fifth inning, the Jays had runners on the corners with nobody out. Three pitches later the threat was extinguished.

Alex Nihill was picked off third and Molly Fritz was caught stealing second before Mariah Wick flied out to center. In the six inning, Olivia Nihill was thrown out at the plate.

The Jays spotted Minot five runs in the first inning of game two and battled back to withing 7-5, before the Magi added four runs in the seventh.

Alex Nihill took the loss in game one and Payton Gall was handed her first loss in the second. The Jays (4-4) are at Century on Tuesday.
